Sodexho Defence wins Cyprus Contract

Sodexho, a leading facilities management services provider, has announced the signing of a five-year contract for Project Gibson with the British Forces in Cyprus.

The contract will go live on 1 September 2007 and is worth £20 million in total turnover. Sodexho will provide and manage all soft services including catering, retail shops, café bars, pool resorts and beach clubs, waste management, cleaning and accommodation stores management.

Sodexho will employ 800 staff, which will transfer from the MoD, NAAFI and ESS, to serve some 10,000 personnel and service families.

Sodexho Cyprus's marketing and communications manager, Kathy Lawton, says: “This is a fantastic win for Sodexho. We have a great opportunity to really improve the quality of daily life for the service personnel and their families who are based here.”

Across all three of the armed services - Army, Navy and the RAF - Sodexho provides a range of outsourcing solutions from catering, cleaning, water purification and specialist ammunition storage to complete facilities management services in PFI contracts.
