Sodexho Education has won business, in both the state and independent sectors, with an estimated total turnover of around £20 million and £3.2 million respectively.
In the state sector, Sodexho has retained the contract to provide school meals, for five years, at around 60 primary schools in Bromley with a total turnover of around £11 million.
Steve Thorns, divisional director for Sodexho Education, said “We have operated this contract for many years and have developed a very good relationship with all stakeholders. Our emphasis in taking this contract forward will be on staff skills training and making sure that we meet all the new food-based requirements.'
In West Sussex, Sodexho has won the contract to provide catering at thirteen secondary schools, with a total turnover of around £8 million. The company has also won a three year catering contract at Botttisham Village School in Cambridge with a total turnover of £630,000 and Harris Academy in Merton with a total turnover of £450,000.
In the independent sector, Sodexho's new business will result in total turnover exceeding £3 million. Sodexho will provide the catering, and in some cases cleaning, at Newcastle School for Boys, Thornegrove School in Newbury, Bishopstrow College near Warminster, Rosemead School in Dulwich and St James' School in West London. Sodexho will also be providing breakfast, lunch and evening meals for 220 students from the UEA who will be studying at Ashwicke Hall in Bath during the summer and has won an extension to its current contract to provide meals at the sports centre at King Edward VI School in Southampton.
Sodexho has developed different offers for both sectors with the emphasis on freshly prepared, healthy food which is appealing to pupils. Sodexho recognises the need for flexibility and will be providing vegetarian food at St James' School in London and authentic Arabic food for the students at Ashwicke Hall.
