Carmel Mulkeen, Deputy General Manager - HMS Belfast
My name is Carmel. I'm the deputy general manager on board the HMS Belfast and I work for Sodexho Prestige. We do all the events on board an ex World War II Navy war ship moored permanently on the Thames between Tower Bridge and London Bridge. It is 630 foot long. We have four function rooms on board including two extra outside areas that we use during the summer months for summer parties and barbeques.
My job is really a people job as you meet so many different people every day - everything from taking an enquiry and having a show round of the museum areas and the function rooms.
The one reason why I love working for Sodexho and why I would recommend it to people to go for a job with them, is because every single venue has got its own character and for me personally being on a ship in central London is amazing, you won't get that anywhere else. Not only have you got this unique ship to work on, you have also got the structure and management skills of a worldwide company behind you. They will always be there for support and experience.
