Corporate Responsibility

Corporate responsibility is a fundamental part of our everyday business and we encourage all our people to embrace this. Our implemented UK and Ireland Code of Ethics calls on all of us to observe the highest standards of integrity, act with due skill, care, diligence and fairness, and promote honesty and ethical conduct.

Giving to others

Here is an overview of what corporate responsibility at Sodexo means in practice - you can also find out more about our achievements.

Supporting local economies
As a global organisation we are dedicated to supporting initiatives in some of the world's most disadvantaged countries to stimulate local economic growth. For example, on issues surrounding Fairtrade and international sustainability, we are working closely with suppliers to ensure that Fairtrade products are available where there is clear consumer demand. We have also worked extensively with a supplier to develop a coffee solution, which we have called Coffee with Principles. This coffee has three accreditations: Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Soil Association.

Protecting the environment
We recognise our responsibility to the environment and we strive to achieve environmental best practice. Worldwide, we are guided by our Sustainable Development Contract that includes environmental commitments. In the UK and Ireland, we have had an environmental policy - and have been reporting on environmental performance - since 2002.

Promoting healthier lifestyles
Our Healthwise philosophy frames our complete approach to encouraging and maintaining a healthier balanced lifestyle for our customers, employees and clients.

Stopping hunger
After years of charitable fundraising, we decided to consolidate our charitable activity. Our STOP Hunger initiative now extends to 20 countries. In 2005, we launched the STOP Hunger campaign in the UK & Ireland, with clear aims to both combat poor nutrition in our local communities and provide a central focus for our community-related activities.

The STOP Hunger campaign consists of three main components:

  • Financial donations through fundraising
  • Sharing Sodexo knowledge with our charity partners
  • Employee volunteering

It's up to you how much you want to get involved but you can count on our support.
