Corporate Responsibility Index
For the third year running Sodexo's commitment to responsible business practice has been officially recognised in The Sunday Times Companies that Count supplement. The supplement, which was featured in the national newspaper on 25 May 2008, highlighted the Top 100 companies listed in Business in the Community's (BITC) Corporate Responsibility Index. Sodexo increased its score by 3.5% consolidating its position in the 'silver performance band' of companies. This is a huge achievement for Sodexo, as the CR Index is the UK's leading benchmark for responsible business. It looks at all aspects of our business from health and safety to supply chain and environmental issues.
FTSE4Good Index
Sodexo has been a member of the FTSE4Good Index since its creation in 2001, the selection criteria for which includes working towards environmental sustainability, developing positive relationships with stakeholders, and upholding and supporting universal human rights. FTSE4Good is a financial index series that is designed to identify and facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. Companies in the FTSE4Good index series are doing more to manage their social, ethical and environmental impacts, and are better positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practice.
Dow Jones Sustainability Index
In 2007 Sodexo Group was included again in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index as "Industry Leader" and "Worldwide Supersector Leader".
The Global Outsourcing 100
Established for the first time by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), The Global Outsourcing 100 provides an essential reference guide for companies seeking new and expanded relationships with the best companies in the industry. Sodexo was ranked No.4 worldwide in 2007.
UN Global Compact
Sodexo is a signatory to the UN Global Compact. The Global Compact is a contract between the United Nations and the worldwide business community.
It is designed to encourage companies to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Investors in People
Investors in People (IIP) is a national standard, which sets out a level of good practice for communication, training and development in order to achieve business goals. During 2006 Sodexo was re-accredited against the national IIP standard which it has held for over six years.
Benefits of following the Investors in People standard are many and varied for both employees and the company.
ARENA Environmental Network - Northern Ireland
The Arena Network environment survey (managed by Business in the Community) aims to raise the profile of environmental issues amongst organisations in Northern Ireland and encourage improvement in environmental management and performance. It is widely recognised as the principle measure of environmental performance in Northern Ireland. In 2007 Sodexo NI featured in the top quintile of the survey.
